The lady bisons won the ASUN tournament, the ASUN conference, finished the season unbeaten, and are headed to the NCAA tournament. Nice job ladies! Read more here.
Don't get us wrong, we're excited about tonight's game against Tennessee Tech. Still, we're a little confused about the theme. Fiesta? We understood the farmer thing when we played Freed, but a side by side comparison of the TN Tech Eagle and a mariachi band reveals some puzzling differences. Fiesta does mean free food at the arena tonight, so we'll be happy to just run with it.
Lipscomb alum Dr. Paul Kyo Jhin ('60) is leading the United Nation's 500/12 Initiative, an effort to provide 500,000 computers for 10,000 schools for 33 million students in 60 nations by 2012. Lots of numbers there. Dr. Jhin has come a long way from his days as a Bison cheerleader and it's definitely worth your time to read more about his story.
Well, we may not have beat Vandy earlier this week, but it sure wasn't because our fans weren't trying hard.
The contruction cranes are back. It looks like something big is about to happen at the corner of Belmont and Glen Echo.

The Bisons play Vandy tonight, at Vandy. Campus Life has free tickets that you can pick up at the Vanderbilt box office. The game is at 7 and you had better be there.
Lipscomb's Initiative for Education (LIFE) program at the Tennessee Prison for Women got a nice write up in the Tennessean today. The Lipscomb classes meet at the prison and include traditional Lipscomb students and inmates. Read the full article here.

The Bisons opened the season in a big way last night with an 88-59 win over Freed-Hardeman. FHU vents their frustration.

Pulitizer prize winning poet Natasha Trethewey will be talking about her poetry and reading some poems aloud tonight at 7:30 in Ezell Chapel. Here is one of her poems to whet your appetite:
After Your Death
First, I emptied the closets of your clothes,
threw out the bowl of fruit, bruised
from your touch, left empty the jars
you bought for preserves. The next morning,
birds rustled the fruit trees, and later
when I twisted a ripe fig loose from its stem,
I found it half eaten, the other side
already rotting, or--like another I plucked
and split open--being taken from the inside:
a swarm of insects hollowing it. I'm too late,
again, another space emptied by loss.
Tomorrow, the bowl I have yet to fill.
